Cargo welcomes two work experience students

Cargo are delighted to welcome two work experience students, Adam and Lewis, who started with us this month.

Adam is a keen videographer, currently studying TV and Film production at Gateshead College. He is joining us for a few times a week, working across both the Cargo brand and looking at some client work too. He’s kicked things off to a great start, capturing some excellent content which we will be sharing in the weeks and months to come.

Lewis is a year 10 student, joining us from Marden High School. He brings an eager interest in all aspects of design as well as digital marketing and he’s got a busy week ahead! We plan to get him involved in some client projects whilst producing some of his own work and learning more about life in a creative agency. He made a good first impression with the team on Monday morning – armed with a tray of donuts!

Linking with schools and colleges is something we are really passionate about here at Cargo, but is difficult in an agency such as ours and we’re not always able to offer opportunities. We know that we’re not alone – during a roundtable event at Generator/Digital Union, a number of other agencies across the region also expressed the difficulty in this.

We’re proud to be part of a region where the young creative community is thriving, recognised most recently by the BBC. But how universities and colleges link with industry, and vice versa, is a big discussion point and one challenge that we will continue to explore over the coming year.

As a web design agency in Newcastle, we’re always looking for ways to support young people in the region – get in touch with us if you have anything to chat about!
