A collaborative approach

We were invited by design agency Studio 1440 to collaborate on an exciting project for renowned photographer and director Hamish Brown. With Studio1440 leading on design, our role focused on technical development and building a platform that could showcase Hamish’s extensive body of work. The aim was simple: create a digital space that reflected the quality of his work while giving him full control to manage and update content with ease.

Designing for experience

Working closely with Studio 1440, we focused on enhancing user experience through thoughtful transitions, responsive design, and performance optimisation. From subtle animations and parallax effects to seamless gallery navigation, every element was refined to bring the photography to life without distraction. We also implemented protection measures to maintain image integrity without compromising the clarity of his visuals.

Bringing stories to life

Beyond the galleries, we created a ‘Featured’ section to give visitors a look behind the lens, a space for Hamish to share stories and insights from his shoots with global icons like Samuel L. Jackson, Ricky Gervais and Luís Figo. It’s a personal touch that deepens the connection between artist and audience, turning a photography portfolio into an engaging, living narrative.

Simplifying content management

A key challenge was ensuring Hamish could easily add and manage his work, something that had been a barrier on his previous site. We developed a bespoke content management system tailored specifically to his needs, giving him the flexibility to upload, organise and refresh galleries effortlessly. This intuitive approach not only removed previous frustrations but also encouraged him to keep his portfolio active and up to date.

From building a flexible, custom CMS to refining every interaction, we made sure the site worked beautifully, performed efficiently, and gave Hamish complete confidence in how his work is presented.
