Landform Surveys is a Newcastle-based geographical surveying company that provides services throughout the UK

Overview

We had the privilege of working with Landform Surveys on an end-to-end (design, development and digital marketing) project.

When they came to us, Landform Surveys were looking to fully update their website to better showcase their services, case study and staff members as well as do a round of marketing work to help launch their site. We were keen to give Landform Surveys a modern and usable website that still preserves a conventional feel, merging the best of old and new, much like how Landform Surveys combines classic techniques with new technologies. As Landform Surveys conducts their work in a variety of scenic locations, we wanted to capitalise on this in our design of the website.

Delivery

The Landform Survey project has been a true collaborative effort between everyone on our team and the staff at Landform Surveys.

We also enlisted the help of John Donoghue, a photographer we have worked with on several projects to provide additional photography for the website. As we knew we would have quality photography that would be an instrumental part of the visual impact of the website, we designed with this in mind. The development of the service pages was another key area for the website. These need to be visually appealing but also hold the relevant information, styled in a clear format in order to optimise these pages for visitors to the site.

For the launch of the website, we prepared three news stories and sent an email newsletter out shortly after launch. We then did three news stories and another newsletter the next month alongside some work on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with Landform Surveys staff helping us by snapping some Instagram worthy photos while out surveying.

Evaluation

The new website has given Landform Surveys a better platform to connect with their clients and the surveying industry as well as grow their digital footprint and online presence.

Visitors to the site can more easily find information about their core services and find out more about specific projects that Landform Surveys has worked on through their case studies and new stories.

We worked with Landform Surveys on their news stories to ensure they to highlight a variety of the types of surveys they do to further highlight the broad number of services they offer. This relevant content has helped bring people to the website and connect with people on social media. We have developed a working relationship with Landform Surveys and will work to continue positioning them as the front-runner for surveying services in the North East and across the UK. 

Raising the Profile

Visitors to the site can more easily find information about their core services and find out more about specific projects that Landform Surveys has worked on through their case studies and new stories. We worked with Landform Surveys on their news stories to ensure they to highlight a variety of the types of surveys they do to further highlight the broad number of services they offer. This relevant content has helped bring people to the website and connect with people on social media. We have developed a working relationship with Landform Surveys and will work to continue positioning them as the front-runner for surveying services in the North East and across the UK.

Over the first five months post launch, we worked with Landform Surveys to enhance their content output, structure their email marketing, develop a social media strategy and continually optimise their site for organic search traffic.

Following the launch of the site in May 2016 through to August 2016, we increased traffic on the website by 85% through the digital marketing channels highlighted above. We have also increased their site visibility in Google by 68%, meaning they will be returned in more searches depending on users' search terms. By working on their marketing consistently each month, and using a holistic approach, it allowed us to create successful growth which has resulted in more enquiries both online and offline.
