Rich Walker

Front End Developer

Rich's primary role here at Cargo is to develop the user interface of our digital projects, encompassing consideration for usability, accessibility and the CMS requirements.  A rare development specimen, Rich combines a keen eye for detail along with and engaging can-do attitude when dealing with clients.

Prior to starting at Cargo (he is the longest serving member of staff behind Paul), Rich worked at another North East agency initially as an illustrator. The agency landed a load of dev work, and hey-ho - the deep-end welcomed him with open arms. Thankfully for us he swam, found his niche and developed his skills from there.

It’s no secret that Rich suffers just a little from OCD, and he prides himself in writing good, clean code. To keep ahead of the curve Rich is an avid listener of podcasts centred around all things dev, his favourites being Shop Talk Show and The Angry Chicken. Whilst it has been discussed many times in the Cargo studio, we may one day get our own on the go.

As part of his other responsibilities he also advises clients on all technical aspects throughout the development and build process. Rich sees client communication as vital throughout each stage of a project to ensure that the functionality of the a clients website matches expectation.

Outside the studio

When he’s not in the studio, Rich’s hands are full running after his one year old son Elijah. He used to be a gaming expert, especially in Battlefield and Overwatch, and also played drums in a band. However, since the dawn of fatherhood, this activity has somewhat been curtailed.
