Paul was a founding member of Cargo in 2009, establishing a design agency with a philosophy to provide transparent communication and excellent levels of design delivery and service to clients across the board.
After earning his stripes in London working for BBC News, he returned to the North East for a stint in teaching before giving in to the urge to return to the design industry to deliver for clients. This kick-started the growth of Cargo's small, close knit team. The aim was never to have 20 or 30 staff for fear of losing the reactive, personal experience that so many of our clients highlight as one the best things about our work ethic.
So with a career background in design first, business second, it is clear to see where the core vision of Cargo comes from.
Paul oversees the day to day running of the studio and works closely with all members of the team. With a passion in design he is always talking to the team about the creative output of the studio, an interest in development - but certainly no expert in delivery of this, he is often asking questions of the dev team around the possibilities of improving experiences for users and clients alike.
As the face of the business, Paul works with clients from the outset of a project prior to handover to the internal team. He can be seen at various networking events, but also continues to be a key point of contact for clients both new and existing.
Outside the studio
Only recently has outside the studio became more apparent, as in the early years of Cargo, establishing the business took up time outside the working day. With a growing family, much time is taking supporting the various activities and commitments that come with this, however Paul has recently discovered the joy of golf, and it is increasingly important to make time for this!
